Textbooks Rule

In accordance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act Textbook Provision, ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ provides students with course material information during periods of registration. Stakeholders (faculty, administrators, publishers, and the bookstore) work together to reduce course material costs. Suggestions include but are not limited to keeping assigned textbooks a minimum of three years when possible, using common texts for multiple sections of the same course, and making use of high-quality Open Education Resources (OER) when available. Information is disseminated by the bookstore on initiatives to reduce costs including used book availability, book buyback, rental programs, e-books, etc. 

Due dates for textbook adoptions are: 

  • Summer and Fall semesters: March 15 – March 25
  • Spring semester: October 15 – October 25

Desk copies of texts

In certain instances, Faculty may request desk copies of textbooks directly from the publisher. These texts are property of ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿. Complimentary textbooks may be used as reference materials. Desk copies of Textbooks may be given to the , Academic Support Center or Crutchfield Center. Complimentary textbooks may not be sold, given away, or used in any way that might violate copyright procedure.
